Morris property School garden competition

29th & 30thJune 2024

Win a bespoke garden for your school!

We have an amazing opportunity for primary schools across Shropshire, thanks to the lovely folks at Morris Property.

We’d like to invite primary school aged children to design a new garden for their local school
or children’s community group. This could be a transformation of a patch of grass or forest
school area, new raised beds where you can grow fruit and vegetables, or planters to grow
flowers to add a splash of colour to your outdoor areas.

Morris Property are commercial property developers based here in Shropshire with over
100 years’ experience of restoring, managing and transforming property in our region. With
a proven track record of school building projects, they have all the knowledge and expertise
to help create something truly special for your school.

Not only will this be wonderful for the winning school, but it will also be a lovely project to
get kids thinking about nature, learning about growing plants, and helping them to enjoy the
outdoors.

Download The Design Template

All you need to do is ask your pupils to download the template and get designing!

Each school can then either submit their favourite design or create a group project to decide on the final design. The school or community group need to fill in the application form, or email us on fun@shropshirefestivals.co.uk with a picture of the design.

Application Form

Entries must be received by Friday 9th June.

The top 3 designs will be displayed in the Field to Fork area at our festival, where visitors will vote to decide the winning design.

The team at Morris Property will bring the design to life, building the new garden and providing materials and plants for the winning school free of charge. They’d love pupils to lend a hand with the planting too!

The garden design is for any space small or large but must be designed and drawn by the children.

Entries will be accepted for Schools or Community Organisations supporting children within the age range of 4-11 years.

The design should be, where possible be eco-friendly and use recycled materials.

The design should not include elaborate water features or ponds.

The competition final designs will be on show at Shrewsbury Food Festival on Saturday 24th June and Sunday 25th June 2023. The winning design will be announced on Sunday 25th June 2023.

The design maybe tweaked slightly to make it more 'buildable' but will where possible stay within the original design.

The winning garden will be built in Autumn 2023/Spring 2024 as agreed with the school.
